Discover Society is a new online magazine that has just had its first issue published. This is a really important development. It is intended to be a magazine for open public social science. It’s open access and the pieces are intended to reach a broad audience. Just what was needed and a great way to use media to explore new forms of communication. The opening issue contains a range of pieces covering a variety of issues and topics – from big data, to the history of New Society magazine, to poverty, industrial ruination and comedy. The magazine is edited by John Holmwood and Sue Scott. You can also follow Discover Society on Twitter @DiscoverSoc .
