A piece on Ivor Novello musicals

There is a really nice piece on Ivor Novello and his musicals in The Guardian. He is a really interesting character. Perhaps most famous today because of the annual Ivor Novello songwriting awards. I use a load of images of Novello taken from Alfred Hitchcock’s early silent film The Lodger to visualise a lecture I give on Georg Simmel’s essay The Stranger. It’s a brilliant film.
